I was sitting at dinner last night and it started with a kick.
“Ouch! STOP! MOMMMMMEEEEEEEE!!! Make him stop.”
“Stop it Little One.”
“Owwwww-Wa!”
“Little One stop kicking.”
“Well now she kickin’ me.”
“Drama Princess, stop. You didn’t like it done to you, why are you doing it?”
“Well he won’t stop. Ouch! Mommy, see he’s STILL kicking. Take that you little brat!!”
“Ouch! Ma-eee, her hurt me.”
“Good.” As both heads turn to look at me
I received a “What?” at the same time.
“You heard me. I am tired of this fighting every night. Stop kicking each other…
“But HE started it…”
“No, Her started it.”
“No He.”
“No her.”
“No…”
“KNOCK IT OFF RIGHT NOW, BOTH OF YOU!”
“Ouch!”
“Ma-eee.”
I decided to tune them out at that moment. The night before I gave one of them a time out during dinner, the night before that one of them lost dessert, and the night before that I left the table. I have tried about 50 different things. Last night I tried something different.
“Mommy??”
“Ma-ee??”
“Mommy?”
“Come on Mommy, what are you doing, huh?
“Mammeee??”
“Is she okay?”
“Hellloooooo, Mommy, stop it.”
“Mommeee, (s)top it.”
“Come on, this is not funny, Mommy.”
“We (s)orry.”
“Yeah, come on Mommy, we’re sorry. We won’t do it again.”
Yeah right until tomorrow night. And I’ll do the same thing as I did last night. NOTHING!
Goodness Gracious, Great Balls of Fire!

Now THAT is a great idea. :)
Hey Six thanks for stopping by! As the kids get older, I am finding that tuning them out works wonders (for them and for me!!!)! ;-)
I totally tried it the other day and I found that they give up on whatever it is they are whining about. :)
Remind me again why you're not an unschooler?! Hope you feel well, I'll get out there soon...with my bickering kids in tow...and margaritas!!!
I would love to be a homeschooling family, but with Little One's special needs and Drama Princesses emotional needs (which would drive me over the edge in no time), I don't have it in me. I keep saying, maybe this year, or maybe I will begin with Little One next year.
Ok, I'll admit it... I am just too damn lazy & scared, and filled with excuses!!! LOL!!!
When you come out we'll practice ignoring the children, I'm telling ya it works!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want margaritas!!!
I can't invite you to someone else's house, 6!! And for some reason you never came to my house with the rest of the clan...maybe we need a park day. I am in love with Orient!! Margaritas in a Coleman, with the good china made by Dixie!!!
All of my friends are always welcomed at my house :-)
Margaritas sound wonderful...but mine will have to be virgin for now (boo). We need an Italian pool boy to come make and serve them...
